From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, demons, and dark forces growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to begin their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This means them little choice but to travel to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
