Coralie Fargeat's bold commentary examines the demanding standards for women's appearance as well as the perceived horrors of advancing years. Demi Moore offers a brilliant acting turn as Elisabeth, an aging actress forced into starring in an aerobics show on television. But after an enigmatic female goes overboard overnight and all passengers claims she was never there, Laura's investigative instincts kick in. Available now, the Netflix platform

Presence Film

Soderbergh challenges his film-making abilities through this clever paranormal narrative shot entirely from the perspective of the spirit. After a clan featuring mother Rebekah plus Callina Liang as Chloe settles into their new suburban house, the lens – AKA the Presence – tracks their movements. Chloe seems sensing the supernatural presence, and it looks like protective of her. However, the motive remains? It's a fun idea that avoids overstaying, with a twist that may be unexpected. This Saturday, 4.35pm, 10.10pm, the Sky channel

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

The iconic actor embraces his unique fame in this self-referential adventure. He plays a self-obsessed Hollywood actor called Nicolas Cage who accepts a million-dollar gig to attend a festive event at a Mediterranean location for the wealthy superfan Javi. Hired by the intelligence agency to investigate the suspected cartel boss, Cage's “nouveau shamanic acting ability” comes in handy. Saturday 11 October, evening, on Channel 4

This Creepy Thriller

Derrickson's contained scarefest holds up well despite the lack of a follow-up. Located in 1978 Denver, a series of disappearances has rendered the youth on edge. After Finney gets captured by “the Grabber” and held captive in a basement, he dreads the worst. But the old telephone in the room keeps ringing, with ghostly voices providing assistance, as the prescient dreams of his sister Gwen may be his salvation. A genuinely scary movie. Saturday 11 October, nighttime, the Film4 channel

The Eyes of Tammy Faye

In the conflict between spirituality and money, the victory is clear for greed in Michael Showalter's wonderfully garish biopic regarding the shamed TV preacher plus her lawbreaking partner. Andrew Garfield acts as the venal Jim, who proclaims initially, claiming divine approval for wealth. Both individuals set about profiting from the people's religious faith. It's an extravaganza of tacky decor, excessive cosmetics and hypocrisy, yet Jessica Chastain achieves to present the character in a likable light. Next Tuesday, 1.15am, Film4

Black Bag

This week's another release from the filmmaker delivers a spy mystery as tight similar to the collars worn by Fassbender's British agent. He receives a mission with uncovering a traitor inside the organization out of five possibilities – including is his own wife. Both actors are masters of understated style, leading to a delightful mental battle of deception or honesty develops. Additional actors take part the intelligent intelligence fun. Friday 17 October, 8.05am, 12.55pm, 8pm, Sky Cinema Premiere
