19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
The Russian, a former number one, has endured a challenging season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks his first championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface from that period of that year.
Success also means Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.
His retrieving play style and recurring reactions on court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.
Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an improved service.
He came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the final five games to take the lead.
The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to push for a decider.
Moutet rescued 4 initial opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, he clinched the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
